BP3_2010061_Discovering Web 2.0 tools

One of my favorite Web 2.0 tools out there right now is Google Tasks. It's just another useful benefit of having a Google account that allows you to make and share lists over the internet. So why is this such a useful app? For starters it's free, it can be accessed anywhere there is an internet connection and it's smartphone compatible. I've experienced a couple of scenarios with this app I want to share with you.

So on a personal level I really don't like shopping for groceries. I'm a pretty decent cook but every time I go to the store I always end up forgetting something. With the help of Tasks I threw together a quick grocery list. Then with just the click of a button it was ready for me to print out, but I didn't want to print it out. So what I did was open up Google Tasks on my HTC Incredible and presto I had a digital and interactive grocery list.

I like to work on a lot of different things at once and that usually means I have to communicate my ideas and manage my time very efficiently. Google tasks has a pretty awesome feature that helps me with that. For instance I am editing a horror movie right now for a client, it is extremely low budget and a lot of the work is falling onto my shoulders to fix. Not a fun situation you may know if you're an editor and it doesn't help when the client is very persistant about deadlines. So I break down what I have to do for the project into sections and take it on little by little. I make lists of everything I need to do and everything I have done. I then share it weekly with my client so he can see the progress I've made.
And now I'll leave you with a random fact about lists: The word list can be traced back to William Shakespeare's, Hamelt (Weeks, 2009)
