As a part of my emergent technologies in a collaborative culture course I was asked to begin using Web 2.0 tools more efficiently. One of the tools I've begun using is my iGoogle account. Google has been rolling out all sorts of interesting and highly useful widgets and programs lately and iGoogle is no exception

iGoogle acts as a hub for all of your internet needs. It allows you to create a customized home page that can link out to all of your favorite sites. You can also add widgets to popular social networking sites such as Twitter or Facebook. It also offers a high level of organization. You can navigate and organize the information using tabs and multiple pages. It also links up with all of the other features your Google account has, such as G-Chat, Buzz and Reader.

On top of using it to easily separate and organize my school work I've found a lot of personal uses for it too. Currently I am working on editing a local guerilla film that was shot nearby in Averill Park. It was extremely low budget and shot by amateurs so I've been having a hard time piecing together a rough edit. So I created a tab just for this project and I used it to collect tips, advice and example from all over the internet. It has proven to be extremely useful because I can see pages I've bookmarked on Diigo, videos I've watched on YouTube and even sites that I was recommended to by friends and co-workers all in one place. It's just like a visual folder for the internet of all sorts of data I've collected. One of the coolest parts though is it updates itself.

I've also found a few uses for it for my band the DigiNinja, but I will talk more about that in another blog...
